Hi old friends--

Last spring, I sold my Savage to one of my brothers' friends when I decided to go with a Honda Silverwing. I'm still loving the Wing, and he was loving the Savage. Good moves all around.

Last Wednesday, he was stopped at an intersection, when a little old man (76 yrs. old) pulled up behind him in a Forn Ranger pickup. His foot slipped off of the brake pedal, and he panicked and floored the gas. Luckily, Mike was able to keep the Savage upright, and was unhurt. The Savage, however, got a crunched back wheel and tire, and a wrecked license bracket and tail light. Oddly enough, the rear fender wasn't touched.

It's all fixable, but he'll be off of his favorite toy for a while 'till they can get the parts.

The scenario just makes me wonder when the states (Ohio in this case) are going to make driving tests mandatory for elderly drivers. As a member of AARP myself, I have mixed feelings. As long as I can keep the rubber side down on my bike, I don't think I pose much of a problem. But then again, when I'm not on the bike, I'm behind the wheel of nearly 2 tons of iron.

What do you folks think?

Like Frank, I've gone on to other things, but this forum is so good, that I can't tear myself away just yet...

Ride far, RIDE SAFE!
